Boarding Life

Trafalgar Castle School has been a home away from home for many girls for over one hundred and forty years.  At the Castle, girls can be themselves in a relaxed environment that is both nurturing and academically focussed.

Boarding available for Grades 7 to 12,  provides a unique and personal experience for students to interact in and out of the classroom, acquiring new skills but most importantly learning about themselves.

The boarding program at Trafalgar attracts students from across the world who are interested in experiencing a uniquely Canadian school with strong family ties. There are also many Canadian boarders who are encouraged by the cultural and national diversity, and wish to provide their daughters with a broad learning environment.

Life in residence develops a keen sense of community, builds maturity, individualism and determination as your daughters grow.

Weekend Activities

Trafalgar Castle School offers an exciting variety of weekend activities. From our long weekend trips to our theatre outings and sporting events, there is something for everyone!

Our weekend program is divided in three seasons: the fall, winter and spring. Each season is planned to enrich their life in boarding.

At the beginning of each season, we will be sending you the registration form with a detailed description of all activities. Please note that some of these outings, like Canada’s Wonderland are mandatory for all the boarders. These activities are free of cost.

Other weekend activities are optional for our boarders. All trips are supervised by our Boarding Staff. Enrolment and permission forms are required well in advance. Please find below a comprehensive listing of events that you can expect for this fall.

Long Weekend Program

For many parents of international students who do not have a Canadian guardian, holiday weekends present a challenge when the school closes and their daughters must make alternate arrangements. At Trafalgar Castle School, we offer optional supervised trips which cover the five long-weekend closures during the academic year.

These trips add to the students overall boarding experience by offering further exposure to Canadian culture. There is a nominal charge for this program which covers all the travel, activities, meals and accommodations.

The trips this year are to Ottawa, New York, Quebec City, Montreal and Niagara Falls. If your daughter does not take part in the trip, it is the family's responsibility to make arrangements for her for the weekend.

Home Away From Home

Trafalgar Castle School is home to approximately one-third of the population of our school. The Castle becomes their home away from home, where the boarding staff, roommates and friends become an essential part of their lives.

We believe that providing the girls a chance to stay with a local student’s family away from the school, could be a great experience for them when they are missing their own homes. Our  voluntary Host Family Program enables the boarders to stay with a day student’s family for a couple of days and experience some of the comforts of home. In turn, families learn a lot about the life and customs of their weekend boarder. This program is offered due to the generosity of our local families, and may not be offered if there are no volunteer families.

We are always looking for volunteer families who would like to get involved. If you are interested in signing up for this program, or if you would like more information, please contact Carmen Holland at Holland.Carmen@trafalgarcastle.ca.

Boarding Life Opportunities for Day Students

Boarding at Trafalgar Castle School is also available for our day students  who may wish to have an opportunity to stay in the Castle while their parents are away on business or pleasure.

The girls get immersed in Boarding Life with other boarders, and gain valuable experience about being independent.

The stay includes accommodations, meals, supervised study time, weekday and weekend activities etc...

Next time you are looking for a safe place for your daughter to stay, please consider Trafalgar Castle School.

To get more information about the cost of this program or to learn more about other programs that we offer, please contact Mrs. Carmen Holland at Holland.Carmen@trafalgarcastle.ca or at (905) 668-3358 ext 282.
