Trafalgar Castle School’s Distinguished Alumnae Award and Young Alumnae Award honours former Ontario Ladies’ College and Trafalgar Castle School students who have achieved notable success in their careers or education, while demonstrating leadership and mentorship, innovation and creativity, community involvement and alumnae pride and values.

2025 Distinguished Alumnae Award Recipients

Dr.Roopan Gill – Class of 2002

Co-Founder and Executive Director, Vitala Global Community, Research and Design Lead

Dr. Roopan Gill is an obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in family planning and abortion care. She has worked in humanitarian settings with Médecins Sans Frontières in Nigeria and Yemen, and later as MSF’s Women’s Health Advisor in countries including Malawi, Chad, and Pakistan. Roopan has also provided technical expertise to the WHO, contributing to key global abortion care guidelines and essential medicines lists.

 

In 2020, she co-founded Vitala Global to develop digital tools supporting abortion and contraception access in challenging contexts like Venezuela and Colombia.

 

She holds a Master’s in Global Health from Harvard and was recently featured in Forbes as 1 of 7 female founders, leading the way in building inclusive and impact-driven organizations.

Hill Kourkoutis – Class of 2005

Musician, Producer, Songwriter, Composer, Mixer,Recording Engineer, Multi-Instrumentalist and Director

Hill Kourkoutis is a JUNO Award-winning producer, songwriter, engineer, mixer, artist, multi instrumentalist, and filmmaker. 

The year 2025 began with Hill being nominated for Recording Engineer of the Year Award at the 54th Annual Juno Awards. She was also announced as one of the remixers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup theme, representing the Host City, Toronto.

In 2022, Hill became the first woman to be nominated and win a JUNO for Recording Engineer of the Year and in 2024, she received a nomination for Jack Richardson Producer of the Year. 

Hill has produced, mixed and written albums and singles for numerous musical artists and television programs, and has performed with artists including The Weeknd and Serena Ryder. She has also directed music videos for Mother Mother, Sass Jordan and more.

2025 Distinguished Young Alumnae Award Recipients

Dr.Nabeela Bhaloo – Class of 2015

 

 

Nabeela graduated from Trafalgar Castle School in 2015 and then went to study medicine at the University of Nottingham, in the United Kingdom. She graduated with first class honours in 2020 and began her medical career during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

She began her paediatric residency in 2022 and is currently a third-year paediatric resident working in hospitals throughout London, England.

 

In her spare time, she enjoys running, going to the gym, and exploring the theatre and restaurants that London has to offer.

Megan Mackay – Class of 2015

Megan is passionate about making genuine connections and is a strong believer in the positive power of business. She is currently helping drive the launch of OVG Canada, a division of the company focused on the Canadian sports and entertainment marketplace. OVG is currently in the process of transforming Copps Coliseum/FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, investing over $300M to transform the Arena into an 18,000 seat, Tier A music venue with plans to reopen in December 2025. In her previous role, Megan builtstrategic marketing partnerships for the Maple Leafs and Raptors as part of the Global Partnerships team at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.

 

She is a graduate of the Ivey Business School at Western University, a member of the Front Office Sports Rising 25 Class of 2023, and former HSBC WomenEntrepreneurial Leader of the Year. In addition to her work in the sports and entertainment space, Megan is the Founder of RollUP Solutions, a wheelchair recycling social enterprise that has since been acquired by Goodwill Industries.
