Trafalgar Castle School Board of Directors is a hard-working and committed group of volunteers who work for the best interests of the School. The Board is particularly focused on having a membership that is representative of all its stakeholders and is, therefore, comprised of parents, alumnae, and external friends of the School.
We are currently seeking applicants for the 2024-25 term. At this time, we particularly welcome candidates with expertise in the following areas:
- Communications
- Fundraising
- Post-secondary education
The Board meets approximately ten times per year, and Board members are also asked to sit on one committee, which may meet monthly. Board members are recruited with reference to criteria, which include specific skills and/or expertise, the ability to dedicate time and resources, and a willingness to contribute to the school’s Annual Fund while ensuring that the Board reflects the diversity of our community. Members serve on the Board for a three-year term (which can be renewed for a maximum of two times).
The Board solicits the community for individuals interested in serving on the Board or its committees and maintains a list of those who have expressed such an interest. On an annual basis, the Governance Committee reviews the composition of the Board and its committees in reference to the School’s strategic plan and recommends to the Board potential candidates to fill any required positions. Generally, the Board elects new members at its Annual General Meeting in September. Each year, board members are required to sign an Agreement to Serve.
If you are interested or know of anyone who might be interested, please submit the candidate form and any supporting documents to the Governance Committee (governance@nulltrafalgarcastle.ca) on or before April 19, 2024. The Governance Committee will gratefully receive and consider all expressions of interest. A short list of candidates will be subject to an interview process.
For further information regarding the role and responsibilities, please visit the School’s website. You may also contact the Chair of the Board, Karen Gordon, the Chair of the Governance Committee, Joanne Burghardt, or any other member of the Board.
Trafalgar Castle School is committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse and respectful environment where everyone feels they belong. We welcome and encourage qualified applicants who share our commitment. We are also committed to providing accommodations to persons with disabilities. If you require accommodation at any stage during the recruitment process, please contact Nana Barber, Executive Assistant to the Head of School, so that we may work with you to meet your needs.
