Trafalgar Castle School’s music program received a generous anonymous donation of $10,000, bringing excitement and renewed energy to the school’s musical community. The unexpected gift has already made a tangible impact, funding the purchase of a brand-new intermediate bass clarinet, along with improvements to the school’s chapel performance space.
The new bass clarinet, valued at approximately $4,000, including a new mouthpiece and ligature, will be used by senior students in the school’s concert band and ensemble programs. As a more advanced instrument, it provides students the opportunity to explore a broader range of repertoire and further refine their technique.
“This instrument opens up so many musical possibilities for our senior students,” said Julian Smerdon, Trafalgar’s Instrumental Music Teacher. “Having access to quality instruments like this bass clarinet will help our students grow as musicians and performers.”
In addition to the new instrument, part of the donation has been used to enhance the school’s chapel, a key venue for music performances. Recent work has made the space more acoustically friendly for the school’s Choirs and Bands, improving the experience for performers and audiences alike.
The school extends its heartfelt thanks for this meaningful contribution, which will benefit Trafalgar Castle’s young musicians for years to come.
