Health & Well-being
Being an expert in girls’ education means understanding that health and well-being for girls go beyond physical health; they include social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health and well-being, too.
Trafalgar Castle School embraces each of our students with a balanced and caring system: a skilled and caring team, effective and comprehensive programs and a positive school culture combined with a community of care.
Our focus is to help each Trafalgar girl understand who she is, realize her potential and build the character and resilience she will need to push through life’s roadblocks.
Health Centre
With our school nurse available throughout the week without an appointment and our school doctor available every other week, parents often tell us that they feel reassured by our on-campus Health Centre.
Our health centre provides primary healthcare for day and boarding students, including immunization clinics, medication administration, health education and resources, and arranging off-campus medical care when needed. Whether suddenly taking ill or requiring assistance with an ongoing condition, our students can easily access our Health Centre and receive expert attention and care.
Student Support Centre
Life can sometimes be overwhelming, and a little extra support can go a long way for a student. At Trafalgar, our students (and parents, too!) are enveloped in a community of support to help them with daily or unexpected demands that can arise.
From our Advisors, teachers and counsellors to peer support groups, there is always someone to provide advice, feedback, support or solutions.
Social Emotional Learning Has Long Been Woven Into the Very Fabric of Trafalgar
SEL is an educational approach that fosters the development of unique interpersonal and emotional skills. It helps students build self-awareness, understand and manage their emotions, cultivate positive relationships, and make responsible decisions — skills that are necessary for success in various aspects of life.
“We are incredibly fortunate as a school community to have so many entry points for our learners to practise and develop
social-emotional skills. These intentional experiences in Grades 4 to 12 are the building blocks students need to discover who they are as human beings. Our important work here is helping to support our students in this discovery.”
Shantel Clark, Dean of Students
An established House system ensures students in Grades 4 through 12 are cross-pollinated into one of four Houses that collaborate and participate in school spirit activities and challenges throughout the year.
Trafalgar’s Advisor program is a safe place for expressing emotions and fostering social and emotional development. Led by Trafalgar faculty, the program brings together a small group of students from grades 9 through 12 for twice-weekly “check-ins” with each other and purpose-built activities that connect to community building and self-care.
Peer Support Groups facilitate small group activities and discussions to further encourage meaningful connections.
Our “Big Sister/Little Sister” mentorship program enhances a sense of belonging and community across Junior, Middle and Senior School.
Trafalgar Prefects encourage social connectivity among their fellow students and provide guidance and leadership.
Trafalgar Activity and Spirit Council (TASC) leads fun activities to create enthusiasm and foster school spirit and collaboration.
Take Time Thursdays gather like-minded students across all grades together for activities based on similar interests.
