Welcome to the Trafalgar Castle School Student Perspective page. Trafalgar is an all-girls, independent day and boarding school for grades 4 through 12. Located in Whitby, Ontario, Trafalgar has been educating girls since 1874 within a warm and progressive community that offers exceptional academics and prepares young women to make a difference in the world.

We hope this page provides insight into a day in the life a Trafalgar student. From leadership opportunities and upcoming events, to resources and videos we are excited to share with you what's happening from the student voice.

“Through different leadership and extracurricular opportunities, I’ve discovered, fostered and established my own unique voice. I’ve also found that my own views become more well-rounded and insightful through the voices of my peers.”

Calia, Head Girl

What does it take to be a leader? Each of us as a Trafalgar girl explores that question and finds our own answers.

Student Leadership

Not all of us are the same kind of leader. Some prefer to lead one-on-one with other students; others thrive in a full-school setting, leading House activities or theme days. Each of us can find and test our own voice within a school culture that encourages personal responsibility, risk-taking and individual growth.

Here are some of the ways we lead as Trafalgar students:

  • Captain of a sports team;
  • Lead, assistant director or technical head of a school play;
  • Peer tutor to a younger girl;
  • Leadership Council;
  • Prefect;
  • Head Girl;
  • School Ambassador; and/or
  • Trafalgar Activities and Spirit Council for Upper and Lower School.

In addition, Trafalgar encourages us to start a new club, design a unique activity or propose an initiative that aligns with our passions, interests or personality.
