Durham Regional Science Fair Success

The winners of Trafalgar’s Grade 7 and 8 Science Fair on March 6 advanced to the Durham Regional Science Fair held at Ontario Tech University (formerly University of Ontario Institute of Technology – UOIT) on April 6.

The girls represented Trafalgar well and a few students came back with some serious hardware.  Grade 7 student, McKenna O. received an Honourable Mention as well as the OACETT Applied Science Award for her project Boppin Brains: Introducing the Brain Notes App. Grade 8 student, Taima K. placed third for her project Yeast Busters: Which Anti-Fungal Works Best?  A second place was not given as two first place finishes were awarded to Grade 7 students Ria C. (The Effect of Carbon and Nanotechnology on Water) and Ritika C. (The Effect of Silver Nanoparticles).  These two students were also presented with UOIT Innovation Awards.

Congratulations to all of our students who took part and a big thank you to faculty Mrs. Senior and Mrs. Kanagalingam!
