Alumnae, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends support Trafalgar Castle School in a variety of ways – through annual giving or by directing their support to the following areas of the School:
Annual Fund/Head of School Initiatives – The Annual Fund and Head of School Initiative are the foundation of giving at Trafalgar Castle School. It enables us to direct donations to the areas of greatest need within the School – from academic programs, upgrades to the Castle’s infrastructure, financial assistance and experiential learning experiences. Every gift to the Annual Fund supports costs not covered by tuition fees.
Academics – The strength of our academic program is furthered by the generosity of our community. Designated gifts allow us to provide teachers with additional equipment, guest speakers, or programming to bring innovation and enrichment to students.

Arts – Music, drama, visual arts are all flourishing areas of discovery within the Trafalgar experience and donations to these areas in the past have supported expert workshops, new instruments or supplies, the creation of Arts Fest and more!
Athletics – Support for our athletics program allows for the purchase of new equipment, expert coaching workshops and a focus on students’ physical and emotional health and well-being. Our school may be small, but Trafalgar’s spirit is strong – Go Dragons!
Boarding Life – The Castle is home away from home for many of our students. Designated gifts to our Boarding Life program allow us to provide the little extras that make all the difference.
Corporate/Matching Gifts –Become a corporate sponsor at a fundraising event, host an event or become a match gift sponsor. Many organizations encourage employees to donate to charitable organizations by matching their contribution. If your organization has a matching gift program, your donation could be doubled or even tripled. Simply complete your company’s matching gift form and send it to roffey.amanda@nulltrafalgarcastle.ca.
Donate Goods & Services – Gifts-in-kind or services are wonderful ways to give in lieu of monetary donations. These gifts have great impact and help us with our fundraising initiatives such as silent auctions or raffles with funds directed toward priority areas that will benefit students. Email our Advancement Office here to donate.
Financial Aid – Providing financial support for students who might otherwise not be able to attend Trafalgar Castle School, our Financial Aid program reflects our community’s longstanding commitment to making our school inclusive and truly a part of the fabric of Whitby and Durham Region.
Legacy Gift – Leave a legacy by donating to Trafalgar Castle in your will, life insurance, RRSPs, RRIFs, TFSAs, Stocks or Securities. While supporting Trafalgar Castle, you can reduce taxes within your estate, reduce taxes on capital gains and in some cases receive an immediate tax benefit.
Tribute Gift – Give in celebration, honour or memory to someone special in your life or a loved one. Whether you are celebrating a wedding and would like to make a donation in lieu of favours, a new baby, thanking a teacher or remembering a loved one who has passed away. You decide where to direct the gift. Simply choose your designation on the donation form and we will direct your donation to the area of need.
World of Difference – This innovative program supports a young student whose leadership potential and desire to learn shines through. Your support allows her to join us as a day student when she would otherwise struggle to afford the tuition. Your donation can make a world of difference in the life of a young girl.

Outside of Trafalgar: I have a strong passion for education, where I have volunteered as a Development Director and Field Support Officer with the Nepali Children’s Education Project (NCEP). I have two young daughters who will hopefully become Trafalgar students in the future. We enjoy cooking together and going for walks in our neighborhood.

Simonetta Lanzi, Current and Past Parent
Partner Certified Specialist (Family Law) and Accredited Collaborative Practitioner (Family Lawyer)

Education: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto; Masters in English from Dalhousie University; and Law Degree from Western University.
Industry Experience: Simonetta has been a family law lawyer for 30 years. She practices primarily in the Superior Court of Justice, but has appeared at the Court of Appeal. Her focus is on settlement, ideally through the collaborative forum, on the well-being of children, and on the ongoing relationships within the family. Simonetta enjoys resolving complex financial situations and working through all issues productively, realistically and strategically.
Outside of Trafalgar: Managing and organizing her busy household, cooking and reading. Her volunteer time is primarily at Trafalgar, on the Board and as VP of the Parents’ Guild, but she also chairs the Collaborative Durham Practice Group, participates in a book club, golfs and spends time with family and friends.
One thing that you want people to know about Trafalgar: Trafalgar is steeped in history and yet modern and inclusive – walking through the Castle is unique, just as each student’s’ academic and co-curricular experience.

Something You’ve Crossed off your Bucket List: I love to travel and the wonders of the world are on my bucket list. At the top of my list was the Pyramids in Egypt, which I was fortunate to see in 2007. Such a fantastic experience!

A parent of two current Trafalgar students, Tyler has over 20 years of experience in the investment management industry, is a CFA Charterholder and is Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Mackenzie Investments. Tyler has been a member of the Trafalgar Foundation Board of Directors since 2021. “Seeing Trafalgar’s positive impact on my girls and its importance to the community that I grew up in, I wanted to help ensure that the School could continue to be a positive influence for young women for many years to come.”
A parent of a current Trafalgar student, David was a former Associate Portfolio Manager with a large Canadian financial services firm. A member of the Foundation Board of Directors since 2021, David is also a member of the Trafalgar Castle School Board of Directors since 2018 and sits on its Finance & Property Committee.
A Trafalgar alumna from the class of 2004, Kait is Executive Director, Mid-Market Solutions at CIBC Capital Markets, and has been a member of the Trafalgar Foundation Board of Directors since 2021. “Trafalgar Castle School was instrumental in my upbringing, and I am very honoured to be able to give back to the school in this capacity!”
A Trafalgar alumna from the class of 1988, Eva is a Founding and General Partner of Two Small Fish Ventures and has been a member of the Trafalgar Foundation Board of Directors since 2021. “I am honoured to join the Trafalgar Castle School Foundation Board. My upbringing in an all-girls school empowered my journey as a woman entrepreneur and venture capitalist. I believe the Foundation Board will further the great traditions in the school while enabling innovations.”
