Trafalgar Castle School is thrilled to be hosting the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS) Visual Arts Festival for its second year on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
Faculty and students are planning a day that promises to be filled with engaging workshops that focus on a range of media and artistic expression. It is our hope to meet the needs and interests of our student artists, and provide them with meaningful ways to connect with each other and share their creative ideas. We are excited to expand the festival to include students from Grades 9 to 12 and ask students to participate in a Juried Art Show, which is a new feature to the festival this year! Once registration has been received from your school, an email with the lesson plan, teaching materials, and assessment tools outlining the requirements to participate in the Juried Art Show will be sent to you.
It is exciting to have such prominent Canadian artists from all around the GTA at the festival to run workshops and participate in conversations and art making related to this year’s theme, Gender: Defined and Redefined. We are also thrilled to welcome Christal Earle, from Brave Soles as our Keynote Speaker this year. We look forward to her engaging and inspirational presentation and workshop on how we can best tell our personal stories to connect with others.
In order to give all CIS Ontario schools the opportunity to participate, we have limited participation to 10 students per school at this time. Registration for the festival workshops is on a first come first served basis and we recommend registering early to avoid disappointment! If you register before November 30th, you will also be entered in a contest to win fabulous prizes!
