The academic program at Trafalgar Castle School allows each girl to discover her potential and find her unique path. Our emphasis on authentic learning and real-world problems encourages risk-taking and experimental thinking. The last thing any girl needs is the pressure of perfection. We want our students to make interesting mistakes: that’s how innovation and new solutions come to light. That’s also how resilience, compassion and confidence develop.

Upper School – Grade 9 to 12

In the Upper School, girls are challenged to focus and deepen their knowledge and skills while exploring meaningful connections across a broad range of academic disciplines. Courses in the arts, languages, sciences and humanities provide each student with the opportunity to discover and embolden her passion for learning. Skilled and caring teachers help each student push beyond the limits of her prior understanding, strengthening her ability to tackle complex problems, and teaching her to persevere with determination and confidence.

Our small class sizes and enriching learning supports ensure that each student is empowered to reach her full potential. Advisor groups, tutorials, peer tutoring and after-school study hall combine to create a strong and supportive learning community.

Advanced Placement - Grade 11 to 12

Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer students in Grade 11 and 12 the opportunity to undertake university-level work.

The majority of universities in Canada, the United States, and internationally recognize AP courses, and give first-year university credit to students based on AP exam results.

AP courses allow girls to explore subjects in greater depth, and prepare them for the rigours of post-secondary study.

Internationally Acclaimed Programs

To help students succeed, our academic program is grounded in educational research about learning and achievement. Our internationally-acclaimed curriculum in math, science, English, music and languages cultivates curiosity and promotes mastery while encouraging students to ask big questions and make meaningful connections with the world outside the classroom.

Our other offerings in art, drama and robotics foster the creativity and design thinking essential for today’s leaders. Our students also apply their learning beyond the classroom in natural landscapes, professional workplaces, school competitions and exchanges around the world to gain real-life experience.

Lower School - Grade 4 to 8

We believe that students learn best in a warm and supportive environment where laughter and friendship live alongside exciting curriculum and excellence in teaching. Our approach to teaching and learning understands the vast and often untapped potential within each learner, and our Lower School team works collaboratively and effectively to help each girl strive to reach her personal best.

Across the Lower School, our small class size, combined with enrichment and strong learning supports ensure that each student is encouraged to reach her full potential. Caring home form teachers, subject tutorials, peer tutoring and after-school study support combine to create a nurturing school community.
